Whistler/Blackcomb, Canada

Very few places do winter better than the Great North. Located in the city of Vancouver, Whistler Blackcomb hosts 8,171 skiable acres, over 200 trails, 37 lifts, a 5,000-ft plus vertical drop (the largest of any resort worldwide) and three glaciers to boot. This resort has something for everyone. From groomed runs for novice riders to open bowls, powder, cliffs and unparalleled tree runs for more advanced riders. They also have an Olympic sized pipe that the top pipe athletes in the world use, along with a mini 15’’ pipe.

 

Mammoth Mountain, California

With the epic skiing and riding that it provides, along with the plethora of other activities offered, it is no surprise that Mammoth Mountain was voted the Number 1 “Family-Friendly Resort” by OnTheSnow visitors. The developers of this park put in a lot of effort to the park’s terrain to provide suitable features for riders of all skill levels. Discovery Park contains unthreatening jumps and jibs that first-time freestylers can utilize. Followed by Wonderland which hosts a 12-foot pipe that leads to the lower rail garden. Then there is the central park which features 21.5 acres to use with technical and super-sized jumps.

 

Breckenridge, Colorado

There is a reason why a lot of Olympic athletes travel to Breckenridge to train. This resort is host to one of the top five parks in the entire world. With about 25 acres stretched across the mountain, it has everything one would need from a mini jib run to large pro kickers. The Colorado classic was also home to the world’s first freestyle snowboard event in 1985. The resort also provides five freestyle areas that will have you coming back for more with a motherload of table tops and spines.

 

Mount Baker, Washington

Snowboarding legend Craig Kelly loved riding on Mount Baker’s terrain so much he moved there permanently. Since its early days, Mount Baker continues to be one of the best snowboarding resorts known to embrace snowboarding when other resorts turned away. Mount Baker also gets blessed with epic snowfalls including an astounding 29 meters one winter. The resort is also home to the infamous Mount Baker Banked Slalom, a competition that draws riders from all over the world to watch and partake.
